Silica (Flint) 400 Mesh

Silica (Flint) 400 Mesh is a purified version of this much used material of glaze and claybody formulation. In clay and glazes, Flint provides the melting, or glassifying agents in a claybody that allow the material to fuse together.

Finely ground quartz rock. About 99.8% pure crystalline silica, When melted it forms the primary non-crystalline (glassy) structural network in ceramic glazes. A very fine, reactive grade recommended for use in glaze recipes calling for silica, quartz, flint or silicon dioxide.
